January 20 and Wednesday Weigh In
Not a lot to say, still working at it. Fell of the bandwagon over the weekend but still managed to lose three pounds over the week. I'm at 306 with a total of ten pounds lost.

January 13 and 14
Work was crazy but I went on a walk both days and did well in the eating department. This is going to be a short post.

January 12
I did very well today. I ate a breakfast of cereal and a banana. Then I met with a friend for a few hours and just had some coffee. After coffee I ran some errands and then came home and ate some lunch (lasagna and some humus with pita chips). At work I refrained from snacking better than I have in the past. I only ate one helping for dinner. I had a piece of cheese for a snack and a bite size Crunch bar. I also took a snack of vegetable crisps (kind of like potato chips) for a snack when the kids were having their snack. When I came home from work, I didn't eat anything and then fixed our internet and went to bed.

Today was a different day from any other one so far this year. We had some friends visit from out of town and we went up into the mountains, so it was a lot of good food and good beer. I honestly didn't over eat and was active in walking around some mountain towns, but there was also a lot of sitting and driving. But it's okay, because today was a celebration day, celebrating being with friends.

Where is God in this?
My posts so far have been focused on what I have done and eaten, but a major factor in this life change is where I am at with God and how God is having an influence in this change. I haven't been as good about praying for God guidance and help with this change as I need or want to be. So a further resolve is daily focused prayer about these sins in my life. I am more often then not praying as I go rather than setting time apart for God. He has blessed me already with perseverance he as given me.

Sunday was very good overall. I had some coffee and half a bagel for breakfast. Then we went to a meeting at church and we were at church until around noon. We then went to Petsmart so my wife could pick out her fish for her fish tank (one of her Christmas presents). I then shoveled the driveway. I ate lunch which was the leftovers from dinner the night before (half a hamburger and some french fries) and some summer sausage with crackers. We then spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning out the basement (whacked my head a few times cleaning out from underneath the stairs, I wonder how many times that will happen in the next 30 years). We then went to my in-laws where I ate dinner and desert but with very normal helping sizes.
January 9
I'm finding that Saturdays are my hardest days, they're extremely long and there is food all around me. I've definitely come a long way when it comes to my snacking, but I still have a long way to go. I'm most upset with my evening food consumption. I ate dinner at work, then I came home and ate a leftover slice of pizza from the previous night, then I went out to dinner with my wife. I only ate half my dinner and brought the other half home, but it was ridiculous that I was just eating to eat. I really wasn't getting any enjoyment out of it.

I did very good today on both ends. I stayed busy. I met with a friend for a couple of hours for coffee (black, no sugar or cream), I then went into the mountains and helped another friend move a desk. By the time that I got home it was early afternoon and I ate a sandwich for lunch and then I finished the bathroom cabinets and also hung the towel rings and toilet paper holders that my wife had bought. When my wife got home I went and got a pizza, I ate three pieces, but I think my calorie count remained pretty low for the day. I also had some yogurt and a banana for breakfast. I finished they day by watching a movie with my wife.

January 6
Again I did pretty good yesterday until i got to work. I need to work on my eating and spread it out throughout the day. I did do some snacking at work. Not horribly but not good either. I stayed busy in the morning, though I had to take a couple of hours and deal with some mortgage stuff because of problems with paying online. I put two coats of paint on our bathroom cabinetry. I took a snack to work of apple slices and almond butter and I ate that, but there was a slice of cheesecake left for me at work, I ate that two and then I ended up having some chips and cookies for a snack later. I did well at dinner, I ate a salad and with some chicken on top. For breakfast I had some oatmeal, yogurt, and a banana and I felt pretty full. For lunch I had an almond butter sandwich and some hummus and pita chips and a slice of cranberry bread. I shouldn't have eaten the cranberry bread because I felt full without it and I felt stuffed after I ate it. I think my stomach is feeling fuller sooner which is a good sign. I don't feel great about yesterday, we'll see about how I can cut down on the snacking. On a positive note, there was some chocolate ice cream in the freezer and I really wanted some after all the clients were sleeping, but I didn't and when I came home I went straight to bed. Oh Yeah!

January 5
I'm going to start organizing my updates into three categories: Eating, Working, and Feeling. This will help me stay better organized into what I am writing. So first off yesterday I did well in the eating department until I went to work. I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast and some leftover fettuccine alfredo (I didn't even finish one serving) for lunch with a big salad. I did fine at work until dinner where I had a brat, which was okay but then they also had a cheese tray and several bags of cookies for desert. The cookies were the small keebler kind. I had seven cookies and maybe ten cubes of cheese. Not a lot of self control going on there. I'm wondering if I need to eat a high protein snack in the mid-afternoon. This may help me control my cravings.
As for staying busy, yesterday morning I sanded and primed the bathroom cabinets which took most of the morning. I feel like I stayed pretty busy and this is helping me avoid eating. I stay busier at home than I do at work. I would say that's unusual for most americans. I'm feeling good about what I am doing to stay busy and what I am eating. I've cut way back overall, though I still need some work.

January 4
I had a pretty good day. Here's the rundown.
Food:
Breakfast: Bagel w/ Cream Cheese
Lunch: Salad, piece of Lasagna
Dinner: 2 Slices of Garlic Bread, Fettuccine Alfredo, half an Almond Joy, four bites of ice cream
What did I do:
wrote three days for this blog, put together the shelf for the master bathroom, hung towel hooks in the hall bathroom, organized work bench, went to Costco, went to hardware store
How do I feel:
I feel good about staying busy. I haven't really exercised, but I haven't been lazy. I drank a lot of coffee, which is fine by me, but I should drink more water too. I give today a B+.

January 3
Today was a really good day. I again stayed busy all day. I finished painting our master bathroom and put in the new light fixture and mirror. I hung my wife's spice racks. I also dragged the old fridge in the garage to the curb, by myself, and put together my new workbench.
Food:
Breakfast - potato and egg burrito with sour cream and salsa
Lunch - Baloney sandwich and some summer sausage with crackers
Supper - One serving of Chicken with noodles, broccoli, bread and a slice of peach pie for desert.
I would say that this is a good day except that I didn't exercise. But I definitely stayed busy. When I'm busy I don't eat as much. I eat when I'm bored and lazy. It's definitely a double whammy.

January 2
Today wasn't such a good day. I worked a twelve hour shift and at work I'm surrounded by kid's snack food. Also the food at work isn't the healthiest. I didn't exercise, but I stayed busy working my shift.
Breakfast - Toast with Almond Butter and cinnamon sugar, milk
2nd Breakfast - Muffin and bowl of granola
Lunch - Cheeseburger with veggies on top, bag of chips
Dinner - Chicken Nuggets with French Fries
Evening - Ice Cream, Empanadas

January 1
Usually on New Years Day I would stuff myself with food and sit and watch football all day. But today, I ate three normal meals. For breakfast I had a bowl of cereal. For lunch I had a salad and some empanadas, not the healthiest things, but most things are okay in moderation. For dinner I had a couple of helping of Blackeyed peas and ham with two pieces of cornbread. Yeah, it was two servings, but it was just blackeyed peas. We also had some desert of cake and ice cream. I stayed busy during the day by tearing the carpet out of one of our basement bedrooms because the previous owners let it get pretty nasty. My wife and I also bought a corner desk and a workbench for the garage from one of her co-workers. In the room in the basement that I ripped the carpet out of we now have an office.
Overall I would say that it was a very good day. I stayed busy and I didn't eat random food between meals. I would give myself a B+ for the day.
